The Things We Dont Do by Andrés Neuman

Good readers will find something that can be found only in great literature, the kind written by real poets, a literature that dares to venture into the dark with open eyes and that keeps its eyes open no matter what . . . . The literature of the twenty-first century will belong to Neuman and a few of his blood brothers.—Roberto Bolaño

Playful, philosophizing, and gloriously unpredictable, Andrés Neumans short stories consider love, lechery, history, mortality, family secrets, therapy, Borges, mysterious underwear, translators, and storytelling itself.

Here a relationship turns on a line drawn in the sand; an analyst treats a patient who believes hes the real analyst; a discovery in a secondhand shop takes on a cruel significance; a man decides to go to work naked one day. In these small scenes and brief moments Neuman confounds our expectations with dazzling sleight of hand.

With a variety of forms and styles, Neuman opens up the possibilities for fiction, calling to mind other greats of Latin American letters, such as Cortázar, Bolaño, and Bioy Casares. Intellectually stimulating and told with a voice that is wry, questioning, sometimes mordantly funny, yet always generously humane, The Things We Dont Do confirms Neumans place as one of the most dynamic authors writing today.

Andrés Neuman was born in Buenos Aires, but grew up and lives in Spain. He was included in Grantas Young Spanish-Language Novelists issue and is the author of almost twenty works, two of which—Traveler of the Century and Talking to Ourselves—have been translated into English. Traveler of the Century won the Alfaguara Prize, the National Critics Prize, was longlisted for the 2013 Best Translated Book Award, and was shortlisted for the 2013 Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and the 2014 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

They Don't Know About Us

Don’t Make Assumptions — The Four Agreements

We hate being the clueless one. We hate when we feel left out of the joke. One change in tone or the choice of words one person chooses to use can spark anger in the other. What if the person that you think is harmless is actually making snarky remarks, looking down on you and making fun of you? What did they mean with that comment? What did that facial expression mean?

The Universe is an amazing place and there's a lot of things that we will never know. From warehouses so big they have their own weather to goats. They Don't Know About Us Songtext

Tasks and tools that once seemed routine now seem hopelessly out of date, and in only a few short years. Example: Who would post an ad on the personals page of a local newspaper? Sounds so Victorian! Here are some of those rituals that are no longer necessary in high-tech households. Pop quiz: How many phone numbers do you know by heart? How times have changed. Once upon a time, we felt perfectly comfortable flipping through the Yellow Pages and randomly calling a plumbing company to fix our pipes.

Even with all the technological advancements that we have today, the oceans are still one among the most elusive natural wonders of the world. If you think that you know everything about our oceans, then the following seven entries will leave you in a sea of questions! So without knowing how many life forms there are in the ocean, we cannot say we have explored a certain percentage or part of it. Expeditions and researches are being done on deeper parts of the oceans and we are discovering new organisms every single year. In itself, marine biologists have added more than new marine species to the ever growing list.
