Jono Ward : Can you see in the future a screen production tv series or movie of the Coutnery's in Africa? Wilbur Smith: I look upon myself as a novelist, and not a screen writer. It is possible that one of the big production companies might pick on the Courtney at some time in the future. That would be entertaining, but I am not holding my breath for it to happen. There is always lots of interest, bit I am not involved in the details, because I am a writer.

I am trying to find out whether the scrolls mentioned in the afterword of the book River God by Wilbur Smith actually exist and to get further information on this discovery. If they do not exist then why did Wilbur Smith mislead the public by stating that the scrolls were in fact real and a genuine discovery? Searching for reviews of the book I found this one: "'River God' Interview Everyone is always wondering about the actual amount of truth behind the amazing story 'River God'. One of the generous people who visited this page, Mark Bieri, wrote to three experts on ancient Egypt, and received replies from all of them. He was then nice enough to send them to me. None of the experts had ever heard of 'Lostris' or the tomb described in the story, which leads me to believe that the story is pure fiction.

It tells the story of the talented eunuch slave named Taita, his life in Egypt, the flight of Taita along with the Egyptian populace from the Hyksos invasion, and their eventual return. It was first published in River God follows the fate of the Egyptian Kingdom through the eyes of Taita, a multi-talented and highly skilled eunuch slave. Taita is owned by Lord Intef and primarily looks after his daughter, Lostris, but also plays a large role in the day-to-day running of Lord Intef's estate. The Pharaoh of Egypt is without a male heir, and Taita inadvertently causes Pharaoh to take an interest in Lostris. Lostris meanwhile is in love with the soldier Tanus, who unbeknownst to her is hated by her father.
